I recently engaged Rebecca to evaluate my debut novel’s manuscript. I found her professionalism, clarity of communication, and the constructive specificity of her critique so useful that I will be working with her in a mentor/coaching relationship to help me take it to the next level.

Victoria Gladwish

“Rebecca is a fabulous teacher. She knows how to show you (not tell you) how to write more—and better.”

Carolyne Van Der Meer, author of All This As I Stand By (2023)

“In her manuscript evaluation/developmental edit, Rebecca Morris thoroughly read the first draft of my novel and offered five pages of detailed notes, divided into what was working well and what needed work. She gave detailed feedback on character arcs, pacing, themes, plot, narration and setting, then helped me map a revision plan. When I hired her as a strategic writing coach to work through these revisions, Rebecca was incredibly encouraging, deeply engaged in the work, and generous with her time and feedback. We worked together virtually for four months and she always led with care throughout the writing process, acting as a literary midwife of sorts. Rebecca has been instrumental in helping me reimagine and rewild my project from a creative writing PhD dissertation to its own shape as a novel. I would highly recommend Rebecca to any fiction writers who are looking for a developmental editor or mentor.”

Shannon Webb-Campbell, author of Re: Wild Her (2025) & Lunar Tides (2022)

“Rebecca was encouraging in recognizing the strengths of my hundred-thousand-word novel, a debut long-form work. She gave specific examples, such as praising the world building involved in creating my characters’ environment. She told me where she thought pacing could be improved and showed me where there were non-sequiturs or puzzling moments for the reader. She let me know where she would have liked to know more and made comments on weak points in the over-arching goals of the characters. […] I have no hesitation in recommending her as a coach, mentor or provider of critique. She respected the timeline we established together and I am very grateful to have had her input.”
